The PMAS (Police Mutual Assurance Society) have spent £200,000 on a piece of work which looked at the financial implications of the downturn in the economy. We are facing a two year pay freeze, changes to our pay and conditions, increases in our pension contributions and an increasingly uncertain future. All of us will be financially worse off to some degree and the PMAS, supported by contributions from HR, Professional Standards, The Police Federation and Unison, will be running financial workshops which will be delivered to all police officers and police staff over the coming months. We welcome these Workshops which will show you how easily you can move from being financially stable to a position where debts will start to mount. You may not be able to prevent what is coming but at least you will be better informed and may be able to plan to reduce the impact.
