We have been assured that all officers will know their post April duties by the end of February. The reason for the late notification is that the Duty Management System needed to be programmed with the new LPA structure before the duties could be planned. Following an approach from the force we have agreed to this late notification so as not to delay the start of the new LPA structure. We made this concession on the understanding that any officers who had difficulties with a particular duty would be able to revert to their original duty.
The knock on effect of this situation is that the Duty Planning Unit (DPU) has delayed authorising leave until the new LPA duties are known. We made representations on this issue and although officers who have booked leave will not have it officially authorised until the end of February, we have been assured by DCC Matthews that the default position will be that leave which had been agreed locally before these temporary arrangements would be honoured.
