The Federation are in the midst of a very busy time, both locally and nationally. As a Constabulary we are a Force undergoing immense change, some of which is proving to be quite painful for both Police Officers and our Police Staff colleagues. Running parallel with this is the review of our conditions of service, not to mention that of our pension.

On top of this is “business as normal” with officers requiring our help 24/7. Now is your chance to be part of the team during a period of uncertainty and change, helping to provide that assistance and guidance to Constables of all ranks, and to be that important “critical friend” to the organisation.

We will be holding our Tri –ennial elections at the end of the year, and would welcome any warranted officer to stand.

The electoral areas for each separate rank board will be identified by the start of the electoral process and published along with further guidelines in Force Bulletins (22nd November 2010), but in brief are as follows;

  • 22 Nov 10 – Bulletin entry advertising the elections and inviting nominations
  • 13 Dec 2010 – Closing date for receipt of nominations (forms collected from Federation office, with your nomination being proposed and seconded by colleagues from the same rank board)
  • 13 Dec 2010 – If there is more than 1 nomination per electoral area, ballot papers will be sent to officers of that rank board, working within that constituency.
  • 10 Jan 2011 – Closing date for the elections

If you are at all interested in standing and want to find out more about the work and responsibilities of a Federation Officer please feel free to contact Graham Riley, Tracy De Young and Ian Anderson.
