Police Dependants’ Trust

Each year the Police Dependants’ Trust provides injured officers and the families of officers who have died on duty with grants totalling £2 million.

We are hugely grateful for the support you give to the Trust, both in terms of raising awareness of our work and in identifying officers and their families who may benefit from these grants. Over the last few months we have been working hard to improve the way we keep you up-to-date with news about the Trust. With this in mind we have a few things we would like to tell you about.

The new PDT website

We have recently launched a new website which can be found at http://www.pdtrust.org/ Among the new features of the site are some great videos of people who have received grants from the PDT. They each speak about the difference the money has made to them and give a personal message encouraging others not to be shy in coming forward if they need support. The site also contains a new grants section which we hope will help make life easier for people, such as you and your colleagues, who speak to officers and their families about the support that is available.

What we need you to do:

Visit http://www.pdtrust.org/ and take a look around the site

User Guide

While there is comprehensive information about the PDT on our new website, we know that some people prefer to have a document they can save to their desktop, or print off, and refer to when needed. With this in mind we have launched a new User Guide. The User Guide contains information about our grants, the application process and the answers to our most frequently asked questions. We have also included a completed application form so you can see the level of detail we need to be able to process an application form as swiftly as possible. We are circulating the User Guide electronically because it is cheaper than issuing hard copies and so helps us to make best use of our funds but also because it enables you to easily forward the Guide to other members of your team. A copy of the User Guide is attached to this email and is also available to download from our website http://www.pdtrust.org/who-we-are/user-guide-2/

What we need you to do:

Read our User Guide and save a copy to your desktop

Circulate the pdf file to any of your colleagues who may find it useful when meeting with officers to discuss the support available to them

Social media

Alongside our new website we now have a Facebook page and a Twitter feed; both of which gives us the opportunity to quickly circulate information about the PDT, as well as allowing us to interact with our supports. We would really appreciate your help to build our following on Facebook and Twitter.
